Accessing Services

We are currently only accepting new clients through our weekly Youth Mental Health Clinic. Our clinic provides single-session, book-ahead appointments with a Counselling Therapist or Counselling Intern. During your session, we’ll discuss the options available for continued services. You may choose to be assigned a Counselling Therapist for ongoing counselling or, if you prefer, you can continue to access the clinic on an as-needed basis for a maximum of 3 sessions in 3 consecutive months.

Here’s how it works:

  • On Monday, call our clinic line at (506) 382-0298 between 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. Appointments are scheduled on a first-call, first serve basis.
  • We will ask you a few intake questions, obtain a consent form, and inform you of your appointment time.
  • In-person appointments are now offered with COVID-19 precautions in place. Alternatively, telehealth options continue to be available either via video chat, phone call, or text using an encrypted phone app to ensure security.
  • Each session is up to 60 minutes in length and at the end of the session, you are provided with a summary of recommendations.

Youth Mental Health Clinic:

Our weekly youth mental health clinic is the entrance point to receiving services at Atlantic Wellness. It also allows us to see youth who may be experiencing a crisis but are not currently clients. Sessions are up to 60 minutes long.

Clients have the option of using the clinic exclusively to check in with a counsellor as needed, they may have up to 3 appointments per 3 month period. If clients would like to speak to a counsellor on a regular basis, the clinic counsellor will be more than happy to add them to the waitlist for our regular counselling program.

The phone line is open on Mondays from 8:30-2pm to book an appointment for that day or later in the week. All appointments are first-call, first serve. Call (506) 382-0298 to schedule an appointment.

Individual Therapy:

Monday – Friday, by appointment only. You will meet with the same Counselling Therapist each visit at a frequency determined by your needs. Sessions are 60 minutes long.

Group Therapy:

By delivering group therapy programs, our clients are among other youth and feel a sense of belonging. The group becomes a safe environment to discuss their current mental health struggles. It also encourages youth to develop relationships with others who may be struggling with similar challenges. If you would like to know our current group schedule, please email us at info@atlanticwellness.org.

Integrated Service Delivery:

We recognize that family members, educators, and government agencies frequently need to be an active part of our clients’ recovery plans. For many of our clients, we consult with parents, guidance counsellors, teachers, and/or hospital staff to ensure our clients’ needs are being met and to most effectively treat our clients through a collaborative approach.

Community Education:

We deliver mental health education to the community. We cover topics such as healthy ways to deal with stressors, the side effects of social media, and the teenage brain. We also use social media platforms to provide tips and educational information on mental health for the community.

Masters in Counselling Internship Program:

We share our Circle of Care program model with Masters in Counselling students every year. The interns carry a full caseload and receive weekly supervision to provide them with much needed hands-on training in counselling.

Our goal is to provide youth and young adults with the positive coping skills they need to live their best life and manage their own mental health.
